Head of School named to Higher Education Academy
Thursday 13 December 2018

Congratulations to Dr Helen Keane on her successful application for a Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy through the ANU Educational Fellowship Scheme.

This recognition highlights Dr Keane's commitment to teaching and leadership excellence as an Associate Professor and Head of School in the ANU School of Sociology.

Dr Keane is particularly passionate about teaching in her area of research expertise, the social and cultural aspects of drugs and alcohol. Her current teaching focuses on the School of Sociology’s undergraduate research internship course which provides students with a hands on experience of research while working closely with an academic supervisor. She sees relationships as central to learning, and understands the classroom as a space where teachers and students can become allies in the face of intellectual and pedagogical challenges.
