School of Sociology staff take out three ARC Discovery Grants in the latest round
Wednesday 4 November 2015

The School of Sociology has had a great outcome in the 2016 Australian Research Council funding round taking out a total of three ARC Discovery Grants. This achievement now brings our total to five Discovery Projects currently held by staff and comes in addition to the two Australian Institute of Criminology grants awarded to members of the School earlier this year. These results are particularly outstanding considering that overall only 17.7% of Discovery Project proposals were successful this year.

Two of these grants went to Dr David Bissell entitled ‘Living apart together: how mobile work is transforming Australian homes’ and ‘Robotics, enhanced humanities and the future of work’. Professor Darren Halpin was also successful with a project entitled ‘Crowdsourcing political engagement’. We look forward to more exciting research coming out of the School!
