Research degrees
The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is a 3.5 year full-time research award and is the highest qualification on the Australian Qualifications Framework:

The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) is a two-year research award and is the second-highest qualification on the Australian Qualifications Framework. It can also be a pathway to study at a PhD level:

Before you apply:
1. Find a supervisor: browse our list of academic staff to find an expert who matches your field of interest. The HDR convenor can also assist in introductions.
2. Email the HDR convenor with an expression of interest (EoI): please include in your email a (roughly) 3-page project proposal, your current CV, a writing sample (min. 2000 words), and the name of your prospective supervisor
3. Have a meeting with your potential supervisors (in-person or online) to discuss the PhD program and your proposal
4. Successful EoI candidates will be invited to submit a full application.
