The 8th Dangerous Consumptions Colloquium

The Dangerous Consumptions Colloquium is a forum for the presentation and research on the myriad forms of contemporary consumption.

Presentations will explore the use of alcohol, illicit drugs, gambling, sex, tobacco, and other forms of 'dangerous consumption' from a social research perspective.

The colloquium is run over two days with only a single stream of papers (there are no concurrent sessions). This gives participants the opportunity to share ideas and understandings from research into a range of dangerous consumptions and from a range of theoretical perspectives.

This year's colloquium is hosted by the School of Sociology at the Australian National University.
