One Digital World, Many Digital Crimes

RegNet and ANU Cybercrime Observatory members, Professor Peter Grabosky, Dr Mamoun Alazab, Mr Darrell Chan (current visitor), Professor Gregor Urbas (former visitor) and Dr Lennon Chang (former PhD), recently presented at  the International Conference on CyberCrime and Computer Forensic 2013  on the topic of 'One Digital World, Many Digital Crimes' in Hong Kong between the 25th and 28th August, 2013.
 
Technology related crime is an ever growing problem with the increasing pervasiveness of mobile technology. Costs of cybercrime is estimated to run into USD100 billions a year worldwide. The International Conference on Cybercrime and Computer Forensic 2013 'ICCCF2013' aims to bring together researchers and practitioners in the field of cybercrime and computer forensic to exchange and discuss ideas to reduce costs of such crimes to society. The event was co-organised by City University of Hong Kong and Chinese University of Hong Kong. The Regulatory Institutions Network was one of the many supporting organisations.
 
A large ranges of topics were discussed over the week by our scholars, including the following topics:

  • Organized crime and the Internet
  • The role of spam in cybercrime
  • Complicity in cyberspace
  • Profiling cybercrime perpetrators in china and its policy countermeasures
  • Wiki investigation
