Paul Jones discusses populism on ABC Radio.

Tuesday 28 August 2018

Associate Professor Paul Jones has appeared on ABC Radio to discuss populism.

Speaking to host Jolene Laverty, Professor Jones described populism as a tendency to appeal to the notion of 'the people', particularly in times of difficulty or when a certain group of people feel either politically or economically disenfranchised.

Professor Jones is well-placed to comment on populism, teaching a course on the topic in the ANU School of Sociology, and currently completing a book titled Critical Theory and Demagogic Populism for Manchester University Press.

Professor Jones' full interview can be heard here at the 1:07:40 mark.
